STUDENTS and staff at Tavistock College strutted their stuff in a charity fashion show recently. The 'solar sensations' show was raising money for the Solar School's project — raising £20,000 for solar panels for the college — while also raising money for St Luke's Hospice by modelling and selling clothes from the charity. The afternoon was spent primping and preening in preparation for the show, with the models' hair and makeup done by the Cutting Company in Yelverton. The students enjoyed the event and were greeted with applause throughout the evening. The event continued with various stalls displaying details of nursing as a career, the Solar Schools project, hair skills demonstrations by the Cutting Company and photography accompanied by refreshments served by the students. Teacher Sally Hubbard said: 'It was a highly professional and entertaining evening with moral and ethical aims. 'It was so good on so many levels. The college and wider community came together to raise funds and had a whole lot of fun while highlighting an eco-friendly project about sustainable energy while supporting St Luke's Hospice.' The evening raised £600 for the Solar Schools project. Thanks were expressed to Jane Beard, the college PTA and staff for organising the event, along with St Luke's Hospice shop in Tavistock for supplying the outfits for the models, choreographer Suzanne Bergonzini for organising the students and the music and the Cutting Company for the hair and makeup.
