TAVISTOCK Tree Preservation Group is inviting people to nominate the trees they feel should be protected by preservation orders.
As part of National Tree Week, they want people to compile a list of their favourite trees in their neighbourhood — perhaps trees in their own garden or trees they admire on the way to work or school.
Having received the lists, the group will check the details, add their own arguments and apply for the appropriate preservation orders.
Few trees are automatically protected and applying for a Tree Preservation Order, though not difficult, is a process with which most people are unfamiliar.
Lists can be presented to the TTPG at its next meeting at 7.30pm, Monday October 20, in the Northcott Room, top floor, Kingdon House. Or they can be posted to Brian Fyfield-Shayler, co-ordinator, 5 Quant Park, Tavistock PL19 0JQ.
