PRIMARY school pupils from Tavistock music centre will be singing with the Devon Youth Orchestra on Thursday December 6 at Tavistock Parish Church.
The orchestra is to be led by the internationally known American conductor Scott Stroman. The pupils all attend the weekly meetings of the music centre at Tavistock College. This centre is open to all primary age children studying music in the local area.
All members of the Devon Youth Orchestra are school students in the county and it is organised and run by the members of the County music teaching service. The varied programme includes a range of music from Bach's Magnificat to Elgar's Introduction and Allegro. The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets will be available on the door or at Bookstop in Tavistock.
Scott Stroman is Professor of Jazz Studies at the Guildhall College London and works extensively with a wide range of professional ensembles in the UK including the Devon based Western Sinfonia.
Any pupils wishing to be involved with the music centre can contact Audrey Luckhurst 01752 846796 for further details.
