CHILDREN at Tavistock Primary School will be eagerly anticipating the fruits of their labours in September, when vegetables they have planted in the grounds will be ready for harvesting. Assisted by Roots to Transition co-ordinator, Sue Hepworth, year 2 pupils completed the planting of their school vegetables by the main entrance to the school. The work extends the Transition Tavistock project that has re-planted Rose Walk, in the Meadows, as a potager and has made sure that no plants have gone to waste. The project is funded by Tavistock Town Council and forms part of Tavistock's entry into Britain in Bloom, sponsored by the Royal Horticultural Society. A spokesperson for the school said: 'The children are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about gardening and have promised to look after these donated plants well. 'They are looking forward to harvesting the crops and eagerly anticipating their arrival on the school menu.'
