AS the wet weather draws in, pupils at Boasley Cross Primary School are pleased that they no longer have to wait in the rain for their school bus.

A new bus shelter was erected recently at the school after Lorrain Simmons, a parent, contacted both Sourton and Bratton Clovelly Parish Councils informing them that her children were getting wet while waiting for the bus and were having to wait in the nearby phone box to shelter from the rain.

Both councils agreed that a bus shelter was needed and shared the cost of building one with the help of county Cllr Christine Marsh's locality budget.

Peter Green and his workforce made the bus shelter and put it on the site, and it was ready for use when the pupils went back in September.

Geraldine Jury, vice-chairman of Sourton Parish Council, said: 'It's fantastic. All the children have been using it and the village people have been using it too.'
