ANIMAL lovers in Okehampton can cast their vote in a competition to decide the bravest animal of 2012 at Okeford Veterinary Centre.

Every month the centre awards an animal that has shown particular courage with the practice's Braveheart Award. Each monthly winner's story and photograph is displayed in the practice — 2012 saw a varied range of cases, from Junior the Jack Russell, who was bitten by an adder, to Charlie, a four-year-old tabby cat who had his right hind leg amputated after being hit by a car.

The public can decide which animal best deserves the overall Braveheart Award for 2012. The winner will be awarded the Katie Bater Memorial Cup and a framed picture of their brave pet.
