ANYONE who has apple trees that need pruning but are not quite sure how to do it, expert advice is available this Sunday.

The Tavy & Tamar Apple Group has arranged a Winter Apple Pruning Day in orchards in the Tavy Valley at Yelverton.

Tutor Charles Staniland will provide a mainly practical hands-on course covering the pruning of neglected trees and formative pruning of younger trees.

The day starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm.

Outdoor clothing will be needed as well as strong boots, gloves, a packed lunch and any useful pruning tools such as secateurs and saws. No climbing of trees will be required.

The cost is £16 to members of The Tavy & Tamar Apple Group; non-members £18.
