THE English County Golf champions? pennant has been proudly flown at Hurdwick Golf Club during the course of the August matches and competitions, to celebrate member Adam Bridgewater?s part in helping Devon to win the English County championship 2003.
The midweek medal was played in very difficult conditions and scoring was generally low. However, Chris Tear produced an excellent net 68 to win the competition by a 5 shot margin. Ray Truscott was in second place with 73 and Tim Gale in third with 74.
The monthly stableford resulted in a hard fought win in division one by Phil Bryant who took first spot on back nine holes from Alan Hill.
Both finished with 37 points and John Bowhay was in third place with 36.
In division two, Derek Nicholls produced the best result of the day to win with 40 points, Rob Archer was second with 37 and Russell Southcott third with 36.
In the ladies? competition, Brenda Truscott just pipped Sally Arscott on back nine, both with 31 points. The only two of the day came from Alan Hill, who won the Twos sweep.
