MARY Tavy needed one point from this their last fixture of the season to guarantee third spot and who better to meet than the only team who could leap over them in the table to drop them to fourth position.
Mary Tavy took the game to Biscovey and the forward line seemed to be adamant this was to be their match to shine. None more so than James Philpott, a constant threat who was rewarded by two first half goals, the second a superb clinical execution from a well constructed move.
Biscovey pulled one back at the start of the second half but it was no more than a blip as Shaun James headed Tavy?s third to restore their two-goal advantage.
Dan Brockington tucked away the fourth, the ball going just the right side of the post from 20 yards and it was all Tavy. Mark Piper literally chipped in with Tavy?s fifth, lobbing the stranded keeper to round off an excellent display.
Mary Tavy had many chances, the best being a mid-air back-heel which struck the crossbar from James, but they were happy with the final outcome which gives them some chance of their second promotion in successive seasons.
