THE South West Forest Woodfair, taking place at Roadford Lake in July, is continuing to grow with an ever-expanding list of exhibitors, demonstrators, sponsors and supporters taking part.

The event aims to promote the value of wood and its importance to the South West economy, and will include children's entertainment and demonstrations from craftsmen.

Last year was the first Woodfair, and the event attracted more than 2,500 visitors. This year's event will be on a larger scale and has already exceeded the previous number of exhibitors.

Julian Moles, of South West Forest said: 'The aim of the event is to promote the value of wood, to both the general public and the professional woodsman, and exhibitors will range from the traditional local craftsman to modern high-tech forestry machinery.

'The South West is blessed with hundreds of acres of beautiful, but productive woodlands, which can help to support the local economy.'

Mr Moles said the Woodfair, which takes place on Saturday, July 13, catered for families looking for a day out as well as small landowners and the professional woodland sector.

More than 80 exhibitors have now reserved space and a full demonstration programme will include charcoal making, heavy horse logging and steam traction engines.
