YELVERTON Golf Club held their DCPGA Pro-Am recently with local charities benefiting from the day.

The team score of -17 (125) was by Scott Amiett, professional at Teign Valley, and home players John Chapman, Chris Chapman and Tim Shobrook. Second place went to Ian Marshall, pro at Staddon Heights with the Northey family, father Ian and sons Shaun and Ross, on -14 (128)

Stuart Disney, professional from Torquay, took the individual prize with an excellent 65 (6 under), one ahead of Dave Jeffs (Stover) who set the early pace. Barry Austin finished third on 67.

Disney must now be the favourite to take the DCPGA match play championships, which will be held at Yelverton on October 8 and 9.

This recent win completes the treble at Yelverton with wins coming in the South West winter foursomes and the DCPGA medal.

'I always enjoy playing Yelverton,' said Disney. 'It's a great test of golf. The greens were excellent and this reflected in the few putts that I had.'

l Devon County Professional Golfers' Association are going from strength to strength with nine events pre-booked in the winter with venues including Saunton, Yelverton, Churston, Honiton, RND, Tavistock, Dawlish, Staddon Heights and Teignmouth.

Prior to these events there are the Elfordleigh Pro-Am and the Professional, Captain, Secretary Challenge at the same venue to be held at the beginning of September.

The annual match versus the Cornish side will also take place at Royal North Devon in 2002.

There is also the possibility of an overseas Pro-Am to Spain or Turkey.
