A WEST Devon printing company was last month presented with the award for best wedding stationer in the West Country. Ottery Press, a company which prints bespoke wedding stationery, attended the first ever awards for the wedding industry specific to suppliers in Devon and Cornwall and 16 winners were announced during the event at Plymouth Gin Distillery. It was organised by Samm Riley of Wedding Matters, who said: 'The awards were introduced to create an industry commensurate with our soaring wedding destination status. 'I am overwhelmed at the support we've had for these awards, the entrants have been so complimentary whilst sponsors have been generous and supportive. 'These awards and their ongoing presence are vital to the development of West Country wedding tourism,' added Samm. Guy Massey, owner of Ottery Press, said he and his wife were completely 'bowled over' when the winner was announced. 'It was completely unexpected,' he said. 'We are very proud to have received the award — it is nice to get some recognition in the industry. 'We were nominated by a bride who we had dealt with before and we were then approached by Samm to enter. It was our brides that got us the award so we are obviously doing something right! 'We were presented with a glorious cut glass vase which was engraved — it has now taken pride of place in the cabinet.' After the success of the awards the organisers are now looking to improve for next year's ceremony, which opens for entrants in July 2008. Michael Spiers Jewellers sponsored the trophies for the 16 categories.
