KEEN footballers from Princetown have benefited from POP (Princetown Opportunity for Play) sponsorship via the Big Lottery Fund and West Devon Borough Council.
Robbie Court and his team-mates formed the team themselves, to play in a Plymouth five-a-side league, and were hiring the sports facilities available at the new Princetown Village Centre .
Although they represented Princetown, they had no team strip, but now, with the help of the POP funds, they step out in their blue and red strip and no longer have to raise the hire fees to train.
The POP scheme focuses on supporting young people and enabling them to engage in a range of sporting, adventure and creative activities, completely free of charge.
HMCA (High Moorland Community Action Ltd) are managing the project, and will be delivering a range of activities for young people in Princetown and Postbridge during the school holidays over the next two years.
