LONG-serving councillor Bill Cann travelled to Buckingham Palace to receive his OBE last Thursday.
Cllr Cann, who lives in South Zeal, received the honour in the New Year?s List for services to national parks and the community.
Cllr Cann said: ?It was a really first class day. They really made you feel welcome.?
He was presented with his OBE by Prince Charles.
Cllr Cann said he was pleased to have a chance to talk to the Prince, given his active involvement in Dartmoor.
Cllr Cann was accompanied to the ceremony by his wife Christine and their two daughters Sonia and Clare.
