TEN Primary Schools took part in the Tavistock and Area Inter-Schools Swimming Gala at Meadowlands Leisure Pool earlier this month. The event was organised by Tavistock Swimming Club, Meadowlands and West Devon Borough Council. The day was organised by Mark Hennessey, chief coach of Tavistock Swimming Club, Sue Dunstan from Tavistock Primary School and Tammy Messenger, West Devon Borough Council?s sports development officer. The most sporting team with the best team spirit on the day was Walkhampton Primary who won the Fair Play Award. Winner of the large schools section was Tavistock, with St Andrew?s Buckland Monachorum School coming second and Whitchurch, third. In the small schools category, Meavy came first, Milton Abbot, second, and Horrabridge were third. The teams taking part were from Gulworthy, Horrabridge, a joint entry from Lamerton and Mary Tavy, Milton Abbot, St Andrews Buckland Monachorum, St Peters, Tavistock, Walkhampton, Whitchurch and Meavy, l Pictured are children from Walkhampton, Meavy and Tavistock primary schools celebrating their success following the Tavistock and Area Inter-Schools Swimming Gala.
