Southway U14s 0 Tavistock Town U14s 4 ON a pitch more suited to U11 football, small with junior goals, Tavistock started strongly and peppered the Southway goal for the first 20 minutes. Doing anything but put the ball in the net, Ayres, Doidge, Thompson and Pridham ran rings around the Southway defence. Case hit the post with a header, Blatchford had a shot tipped round the post, then an Ayres shot took a deflection to give Tavistock a 1-0 lead. With their goal never threatened, Tavistock were able to control the game in the second half and wait for the chances. Pridham scored two goals to make his four-game tally to eight, and Lovering came off the bench with his first touch to score the fourth. Man of the match: Doidge. Next game home to Lipson. Mayflower U14s 1 Tavistock Town U14s 1 UNDER pressure for the first time this season, Tavistock seemed unable to play their normal passing game. The two teams spent most of the game negating each other, and it was not until the second half that Mayflower broke through on the left to score the opening goal. Tavistock had the better of the second half and through commitment rather than skill were able to put Pridham through to score a goal. The team will have learnt a great deal about commitment in this game, and combining this with their footballing ability will serve them well for the rest of the season. Man of the match: Joel Blatchford.
