IN light of the current ongoing consultation in Tavistock and Okehampton, 'Shaping our Town's of Tomorrow', I feel West Devon Borough Council should be open to the idea of more retail choice in Tavistock.

We have one major supermarket in the shape of Morrisons but we would do well to have another to ensure price competition, give local residents more choice and also provide new jobs for the area.

Tavistock high street is an individual place that would not suffer from a new supermarket and it would only benefit local residents.

Hopefully the council will listen to what local residents want and need.

REGARDING the letter by Sue Eastwood (October 4), good grief, who does she think she is?

Some of us 'plebs' use the low end/corner shops, because we cannot afford anywhere else. Not everybody in Tavistock is a retired millionare.

The majority of people in Tavistock probably live on a 'normal' wage, and cannot afford the petrol to pick and choose where we shop. I couldn't believe what I was reading, it was like a letter to the Times during the Victorian era, or from Dowton Abbey.
