Tavistock 1st XI
President's XI
PRESIDENT'S captain, Stuart Munday, won the toss and asked Tavistock captain. John McGahey, to take the field.
Opener Andy Rich smashed an early 26, but Andy Gauler came in to remove him with his first ball.
Teshipo Legodi bowled a lively spell of 1 for 22 off 8 overs and it was left to Mike Cherry (30) to give the President's total an air of respectability at 143 all out.
Dave Burke bowled a quick and accurate spell first up, removing Dave Jeffery for 8 but the captain's faith in youth was justified and after a difficult start two young prospects for the future, Bob Luscombe (58) and Dave Dunham (59) romped Tavistock home by nine wickets.
President Eric German presented John McGahey with the trophy and he in turn passed it on to Steve Luffman, club captain, who had broken his wrist the day before.
There was also the presentation of two cups: the Maurice Avery cup went to Mike and Jenny Crocker for all their hard work on the ground, the bar and teas, and the Dot Avery award went jointly to John Perkins and Stuart Munday for all their work behind the scenes.
