A PUBLIC meeting is being held in Calstock next Thursday (March 29) to discuss celebrations for the forthcoming centenary of the railway between Bere Alston and Gunnislake and Calstock Viaduct. Now the north end of the scenic Tamar Valley Line to Plymouth, the railway originally opened in 1908 and the viaduct was completed in August the previous year. With the centenary fast approaching, the meeting aims to gather together local people keen to get involved and organise events to celebrate it. The meeting at Calstock Village Hall from 7.30pm to 9.30pm has been organised by the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership.
