HATHERLEIGH Pre-School has been celebrating the findings of its latest Ofsted report which said the quality of teaching it provides was very good. The report states: ?Hatherleigh Pre-school provides high quality nursery education and children are making very good progress towards the early learning goals in all six areas of the curriculum. ?The quality of teaching is very good. All staff have a good knowledge and understanding of the early learning goals and interact well with children to support and extend their learning.? The report of the inspection, carried out last November, stated: ?Children are offered a good range of activities that support their progress and staff are clear about what children are intended to learn from the activities.? The report also found the group had made good progress in addressing three key issues raised at the last inspection. ?The pre-school now have a special educational needs co-ordinator in place, have improved their assessment records and provide children with regular access to craft materials to create imaginative artwork.? Supervisor Jenny Mackenzie said she and the other staff were delighted with the positive outcome of the report. The group meets in the town hall and provides five morning sessions (9am to 11.45am) and two afternoon sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays each week. There are currently 37 children on roll, but there are still spaces for more. To find out more about the pre-school contact Jenny or Sarah on 07779 562274.
