TAVISTOCK-based pushchair company Pegasus grabbed a sneak preview of the Millennium Dome last week at a private visit hosted by Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The company, which manufactures all-terrain pushchairs, received its special invitation because of its Millennium Product status awarded by the Design Council.

Mark Warne, director of Pegasus, and sales manager Ben Jones were given a preview of the Millennium Experience and featured in the launch of the sharing innovation initiative.

This scheme is a Design Council idea aimed at boosting industry by sharing experiences.

'We went up to the Dome fairly cynical but it was quite impressive,' said Mr Warne.

'We were struck by the size of it, although a lot of it is still a hard-hat area,' he said.

The Pegasus three-wheel pushchair is due to have its own small space in the Spirit of Innovation section of the Dome, as a successful British product exhibiting creative, innovative and forward-thinking design.

And because of the continuing success of Pegasus, the company is now in the process of moving out of its town centre offices at Abbey Place.

'We are consolidating warehouse, sales and admin at Westbridge Industrial Estate, taking over the redundant Greenings building,' said Mr Warne.

'We have had a very good few years — we've only been going about four years and the rate of growth has been quite phenomenal — we've doubled growth each year.'

Pegasus now has a range of eight designs including licensed products for Land Rover, Raleigh bicycles and a special needs version pushchair.
