THIRTY years of volunteering was marked with a special award for Tony King at the National Trust's Cotehele Estate this week.
Mr King from Metherell has undertaken many roles at Cotehele and was said to be crucial to the property, as were the other 154 who were treated to a thank-you lunch on Monday. Mr King's wife Maureen has also been a volunteer for many years.
This year the volunteers have reached a milestone with 1,050 years of service between them. Visitor services manager Charmian Saunders said: 'Volunteers are an essential group of people who support the trust's work in a variety of ways — from room stewards in our houses to conservation volunteers on the coast.
'They are all committed and dedicated and we just couldn't manage without them.'
