WHILE he wasn't my choice, may I congratulate Geoffrey Cox on his re-election as MP for West Devon and Torridge?

However, I would urge him to change his stance and work for electoral reform. We are told we live in a democracy but I find it hard to believe when the Liberal Democrats received 23% of the national vote and yet won fewer than 9% of parliamentary seats. How is that democratic?

Mr Cox has personally written to me regarding his views on electoral reform and, while I can accept he has his own personal opinions on the subject, I find it hard to accept his refusal to allow the electorate to have the final say in how our MPs are elected.

There are some (including Mr Cox) who say Proportional Representation (PR) would lead to a weak government. However, PR works perfectly well in most countries around the world that have adopted it and perhaps it would end the agonising 'Punch and Judy' style of politics we currently suffer.

I urge you all to write to Geoffrey Cox and demand electoral reform. If we lived in a true democracy, the electorate would be the ones that chose our electoral system; not the incumbent MPs such as Geoffrey Cox.
