A WELL-known postman from Tavistock has retired after almost 20 years working for the local Post Office.
Fred Venning, 65, retired on November 15 after seven and a half years delivering mail in Tavistock.
Fred was employed as a postman in the 1970s but after almost ten years he left to work for BT. Then on retiring from BT he spent some time at Central Motors, before returning to Tavistock Post Office almost eight years ago.
Gill Venning, Fred's wife, said: 'He is missing his customers and colleagues but it was time for him to retire. He has had so many cards and presents from people and we have to say thank you to them all.'
