CREAM teas and home made produce were offered to visitors to the Poppy Centre in Okehampton last week, as the centre celebrated its first year based at Wardhayes.

The social afternoons were open to families, carers and health workers connected with the Poppy Centre.

Kay Westbrook, manager, said: 'It was really for those involved in the centre to see a year on how we've progressed.

'It was a big change, but the clients are now all very happy and settled.'

Wardhayes now offers residential care, a reablement unit and the Poppy Centre.

'We are very much a resource centre now, serving the community of Okehampton and the surrounding areas,' said Mrs Westbrook.
