LAMERTON Pony Club is one of the South West's smaller branches. However, this season they have fielded competitors in every major discipline, with great success!
Lamerton's Area show jumping squad made the long journey down to Stithians showground on Tuesday July 27. In the event, Georgie Dudden came second in the open class and Lara Hopkins third, both qualifying for the championships, although Lara has a place at Cambridge summer school, so cannot go.
In the Intermediate class, the team of Hannah Gribble, Josh Langton, Nikki Pannell and Naomi Tibbs came sixth, with a third place in the tack and turn out competition. In the novice class the team of Samuel Crouch, Harry Lawson, Victoria Sleep and Lucy Tillier, with Heidi Lewis as an individual, all rode well in their first really big competition at this level and although they were not placed, they came fourth out of 18 teams in the tack and turn out competition. Well done to all.
From the other area competitions, two members are going to the Pony Club National Tetrathlon Championships at Hartpury this August, Adam Sandercock, who won outright, against the best from three areas and Rebecca Potter, both also selected to represent the South West in the forthcoming regional event.
In the eventing, Georgie Dudden came second in the open class, and is off to Draycott Manor for the Pony Club Nationals there as well.
Olivia Thornton who, aged 11, was the youngest competitor by four years, came equal first in the open area dressage competition on Saturday, has qualified for the Dressage Nationals at Draycott Manor.
Hannah Whiteley (19) has been very busy in this season's Pony Club endurance events, andhas qualified for the Pony Club National Endurance championships, in Bedfordshire in September.
The Lamerton Mounted Games Team of Issy Jenkin, Megan and Ellen Lawrence, Emma Lawson, Yasmin Steven and Lizzie Langton just missed qualifying for their regional championships, but are optimistic for next season!
All in all, Lamerton has five Members on their way to national championships, in five different disciplines.
