Kelly College Current Affairs and Discussion Society welcomed Adam Symons the prospective parliamentary Liberal Democrat candidate for West Devon and Torridge to their meeting last week.

Mr Symons spoke about the meaning of democracy and outlined the policies of the Liberal Democrat Party.

There followed a lively discussion covering a wide range of contemporary social, economic and environmental issues.

It is hoped that, during the course of the term, the society will invite into the school representatives of all the main political parties to give pupils a greater understanding of the political process.
