TWO young teenagers were treated by paramedics in Tavistock last Friday night after drinking themselves unconscious.

Sgt Paul Hunter said police had already stepped up patrols to tackle under-age drinking and would be cracking down further.

He said the potential dangers, quite apart from the effects of the alcohol on the children were quite frightening.

'It's very dangerous for them, especially the girls, anything could happen when they are in this state,' he said.

Sgt Hunter appealed for the youths to be more sensible and for parents to have more regard for their offspring.

He said police would be targeting the sources of alcohol for the youngsters and were particularly concerned older youths might be buying it for them.
