POLICE in Devon and Cornwall are looking for a good home in West Devon for one of their police dogs who is about to retire.

Indie (pictured left), a seven-year-old German shepherd, is a friendly dog who is getting towards the end of his working life.

PC Steve Dutton, who has been Indie's handler in the force, said: 'He is looking for a nice retirement home; he needs a person who is confident with dogs as he can push his luck at times.

'He is good with children and other smaller dogs and bitches, but would not put up with another stronger-willed dog around and no cats or other animals.'

Although not a very large dog, Indie more than makes up for it in character.'

Indie is completely black in colour, has had no major health issues and is in a fit condition for his age. He hates the vets and has to be muzzled.

PC Dutton added: "He will bark at the door at the postman, deliveries etc and can guard the house effectively.

'Above all, Indie is a character with a massive personality. He will give back what you put into him and can be a very loving dog.'
