Police are continuing to investigate the unexplained death of a woman in her 60s in Yelverton.
Police were called at around 3.15pm on Friday, January 25 by the ambulance service with reports of a woman located in the public toilets in Meavy Lane.
The woman, named as 68-year-old Regina Marilyn Jean Paul from Plymouth, was immediately transferred to Derriford Hospital with life-threatening head injuries. She later died in the early hours of Sunday January 27.
Following the incident, a 68-year-old man from Plymouth was arrested and was later released on police bail. He has since been released with no further action being taken in relation to this incident.
An inquest into the death of Regina Paul was opened and adjourned at Plymouth Coroners’ Court on January 31. A full inquest will take place later this year.
Detective Inspector Ian Ringrose from the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: ‘I would like to thank the public for the great response to our appeal. We received a significant amount of information which allowed us to progress our investigation.
‘Sadly, the victim passed away in hospital a short time after the incident. Her death continues to be treated as unexplained and a file will be prepared for the coroner.’
