POLICE are hunting thieves who took advantage of a 'foolish party-thrower' in Horrabridge.

Investigators say a family went away from their Horrabridge home for a few days, leaving a young relative in charge.

The young woman decided to use her relative's home to be the venue for a party.

Tavistock police Sergeant Dave Anning said: 'The good news is that the property did not get wrecked. The bad news is that several valuable rings — two wedding bands, an engagement ring and an eternity ring — are now missing.'

Along with the jewellery, worth around £500, the crooks also stole around £50 in cash.

Sgt Anning said: 'Obviously the owners of the rings are devastated by the loss for sentimental reasons as much as financial.

'If your teenager went to a party in Horrabridge on the evening of Saturday, October 4, please talk to them about what has happened. We are hoping the rings will be returned. They have already been circulated on stolen property lists so if they have been pawned then officers will receive CCTV images of whoever pawned them.'
