POLICE officers from Tavistock presented a cheque for £500 to the Molly Owen Centre last Thursday.

The day centre, which opened in 1969, gives adults with learning difficulties the opportunity to develop through a range of organised activities from archery to IT skills.

More than 50 people benefit from the centre every day.

The money was raised through the annual Tavistock police ball and donations instead of Christmas cards.

Patrick McLaughlin, manager of the Molly Owen Centre, said the money will go towards a new spa bath to replace the existing one which is experiencing problems.
