South Zeal United 2
Westexe Rovers 4
FOR the third game in succession South Zeal conceded early goals at home and paid the penalty in the last two games by dropping valuable points at home.
Last week Zeal lost 5-1 at home to a good University side and paid the penalty of gambling on winning the game having equalised early in the second half.
This week, after going a goal down within five minutes of the start, Zeal could have gone 2-1 up within 20 minutes but for two great saves by the Westexe keeper who kept out a shot from Harley Cann and a close-range header from Roger White.
However, Westexe turned round at half-time with a two-goal advantage, the first a gift from a poor back pass and the second from a corner only partially cleared .
In the second half Zeal pressured the Westexe defence but could not create the chances needed to get back into the game - any shots on target were well saved by the Westexe keeper who was having a great game.
Westexe went three up from a free kick when Harley Cann, in an effort to clear, headed into his own net.
With ten minutes left Steve Pillivant reduced the arrears with a great left foot shot from the edge of the penalty area and the deficit was further reduced with only two minutes left when Garry Smith hit a tremendous shot into the top corner from 12 yards. With only one minute left Zeal pushed everyone forward and were hit on the break allowing Westexe to score their fourth goal.
This week away to Thorverton, meet at the King's Arms at 1.15pm. On Sunday Zeal are at home to Motel Rangers, kick-off 2.30pm.
