WATCHING Concorde?s final commercial flight landing at Heathrow on the television brought back a treasured memory of Concorde flying from Exeter airport saluted by the Red Arrows in the late summer of 1991.

After nursing and losing her husband with terminal illness, my daughter was herself diagnosed with cancer. Knowing that she only had a very short time to live, she wanted to leave her son and nieces with a special happy memory and decided to take them on the trip of a lifetime on Concorde.

As we watched them get on the plane and then taxi to the end of the runway to prepare for take-off, Concorde turned and halted as the Red Arrows performed a salute flypast ? an awesome sight!

They all enjoyed a spectacular flight in the dream aircraft, and were treated as VIPs.

What a treasured experience and happy memory to leave her family with!
