SPORTS and arts and crafts will be on offer at this year?s Tavistock College sports centre holiday club. The club will run from Monday, July 30 until Friday, August 24, weekdays only, and is for children aged 8 to 14 years. Sports will include swimming, football and rounders and crafts will include painting, papier mache and clay model making. Barry Mountstevens, the Sports Centre manager at Tavistock College, told the Times: ?The holiday club will give youngsters the opportunity to participate with other children in different sports, arts and crafts ? and it is a camp where everyone is catered for and can enjoy themselves.? The main sessions are between 10am and 3.30pm and cost £15, but there is a £3 reduction if booked at least one week in advance. In addition, extra sessions are available from 9am to 10am and 3.30pm to 5pm at £2 a session. Day trips are also on offer, which must be booked at least one week in advance. These will be to Woodlands Leisure Park on August 21 and Trethorne Leisure Park on August 7. Prices are £20 per trip. For football mad youngsters Arsenal Soccer Schools are running a three-day soccer camp at the college from August 1 to August 3. This is suitable for children of all abilities between five and 15 years, with the emphasis on fun and coaching. The cost is £15 per day or £40 for the course. There is even a possibility for youngsters at the school to be recommended by organisers to be invited along to Arsenal for further training to assess their potential. Former professional footballer John Hodge, who played for Southampton, will be helping to run the camp.
