CALSTOCK Rowing Club took part in the Mousehole Regatta on Sunday and were among the best supported both in terms of rowers on the water but also by people cheering on the quayside.
The U14s four oar Calstock A crew of Becci Ives, Martha Roberts, Willow Harman, Grace Murray and Conor Clark (cox) stormed into the lead and stayed there for the entire race — enjoying a huge cheer from the Calstock supporters as they crossed the line. The Calstock B crew of Kate Bradley, David Scoles, Ben Bradley and Sam North (cox) also enjoyed valuable 'sea' training. In the ladies four oar of Leigh Anne Alford, Ley Roberts, Lorna Murray, Sue Ives and Ruby Roberts (cox) Calstock stormed home in second place their best placing this season chasing the boat from Polperro all the way to the finish line.
In the men's four oar the crew of Sam North, Nick Bradley, Ali Trotter, Conor Clark and Ben Bradley (cox) came third place.
Other notable results were Rosie Bradley coming first in the girls U16s pair paddles, the U14s Cornish Randan crew of Becci Ives, Evie Reynolds and Martha Roberts coming third with some impeccable steering through other boats crashes. In the U18s boys Calstock recorded an impressive second place with Josh Reynolds, David Scoles, Tom Ransome, Willow Harman and Ben Bradley (cox) getting their best result of the season.
The next regatta is Calstock Regatta and Fete on July 23 and 24 and promises to be a superb family day out as always. Calstock Rowing Club welcomes members aged 8-80 or more. For more details see its website on http://www.CalstockRowingClub.co.uk">www.CalstockRowingClub.co.uk
