I WOULD like to ask Tavistock Town Council, via your newspaper: Please do not spoil the Meadows by filling it full of activities.

A large number of people, not all of them old, regard the Meadows as a wonderful green oasis in the middle of town.

They love to stroll along the canalside, admire the beautiful, mature trees, maybe feed the ducks and enjoy the tranquillity.

What is wrong with a calm, open space? Does everywhere have to be turned into a 'hive of activity' as envisaged by Cllr Sellis?

Please, council, look elsewhere for space for a BMX track, giant garden railway and the like. Incidentally, the piece of land in question frequently floods after heavy rain.

Oh, and by the way, can anybody tell me where all the facilities provided for 'old people' by the council are?
