ORGANISERS of this year?s Princetown Carnival, to be held on Saturday September 2, are urging youngsters in the area to submit their applications for the posts of carnival queen and prince and princesses. The draw to choose the new carnival royalty will be held at Princetown Primary School on June 16. This year, applications will not be purely from children attending the school but will be accepted from any boy or girl between the ages of five and eleven, living in Princetown or the surrounding area. The closing date for applications is June 12. Application forms can be found in the Princetown Newsletter and can be submitted to collection points at Princetown Primary School or Princetown Post Office. l An appeal has been launched by Princetown Carnival Committee for someone willing to tow the carnival coach this summer. The committee?s regular chauffeur has now left the area and members are left without a driver. Anyone who has a four-wheel drive car with a tow bar who is willing to help out, or who is able to showcase the carnival queen and her attendants in their own vehicle, is asked to contact the carnival committee. The committee is also eager to find someone willing to provide the centrepiece for a popular ramroast, which forms an important part of the carnival. The committee has been grateful for the support of Peter and Anne Crozier, who have provided the meat for the roast for the last few years, and is now looking for another generous sponsor to support the popular event. Anyone who can help help, should call 01822 890760.
