ALL next week our band of volunteers will be knocking on your doors collecting for Save the Children.

The people of Tavistock and the surrounding villages are always very generous, but this year we would ask you to dig even deeper into those pockets.

Every day for the last month we have heard news from Iraq and many of you have family or friends serving in the forces out there. They will be telling you of the urgent need for aid.

Save the Children has been supporting children and local communities in Iraq since 1991, and has rebuilt infrastructure such as schools, roads, bridges and water works.

As the British aid agency with the largest presence in the region we are determined to continue our vital work. £33 provides emergency items, children?s clothes, shoes, blankets, jerry cans and cooking matterials. £58 buys enough medicines and medical eguipment to meet the needs of 1,000 refugee children for a month.

We work all over the world and help children from Afghanistan to the UK.

Please give generously. If we call at home and see you in the street, please forgive us for asking twice. We just want to collect as much as we can for this urgent cause.
