SINCE its formation in 1964, the League of Friends of the Okehampton Hospitals has, with the help of the people of Okehampton and surrounding parishes and villages, generated tens of thousands of pounds to assist with the welfare of patients and staff and the purchasing of new medical equipment.
Already the League of Friends has donated £21,000 to our new Community Hospital. Whilst we now have the long awaited New Community Hospital, the work of the Okehampton League of Friends must continue. There will always be much that the NHS cannot provide, new technology comes at a price.
In the past a newsletter provided league members and helpers with information about the hospitals and forthcoming events.
It is the intention of the Okehampton League of Friends to reintroduce the newsletter but firstly I must ask that all past and present members, supporters and helpers contact me on 01837 659708 so we can update our contact details.
If anyone would like more information please come along to our next coffee morning on Saturday June 28 at the Church Hall, Okehampton. We would be delighted to see them.
John Marvin
Newly elected chairman of the Friends of Okehampton Community Hospital
