A £200,000 pot of money is available for play activities and facilities for the children and young people of West Devon — if suitable projects can be identified. In order to receive the vital funding from the Big Lottery Fund, West Devon Borough Council has to prove the grant will be used for projects that the children and young people want themselves. The borough is calling on organisations and individuals whose work involves children to come forward with ideas. Gill Till, West Devon's children and young people's officer, said: 'We want ideas – particularly ideas from the children and young people. It's important that we respond to their needs across the whole borough and I'm sure there are plenty of play facilities that they would like to see just for them.' The money can be used for capital or revenue projects such as providing play equipment or setting up play schemes. Cllr Mandy Govier, the council's youth champion, said: 'I urge anyone who is involved with children and young people to contact us as soon as possible with their ideas.' Send ideas to [email protected]">[email protected] or write to Gill Till at West Devon Borough Council, Kilworthy Park, Tavistock, PL19 9EZ by March 14.
