PLANNING consent is being sought from West Devon Borough Council for eight homes at Bratton Clovelly.

The outline planning application (with some matters reserved) includes new access, parking and associated landscaping on land to the north of the Pastures for applicants Mr and Mrs Foley.

The site is currently used for pasture and for livestock.

Agents for the applicant Savills said the properties would range from two bedroom to four bedroom in size, with a combination of single and two storey buildings.

The development would see a variety of detached, semi-detached and detached buildings across the site, all of which would benefit from off-road parking and/or garage space.

The site, which covers an area of 0.66 hectares, comprises a number of green open spaces, along with a 6m wide boundary ecology buffer zone which would incorporate a footpath and public access points.

The layout plan for the houses is a simple cul-de-sac design in keeping with other housing areas within the village of Bratton Clovelly, such as The Pastures and Church Meadows.

Pre-application discussions revealed no highway safety issues from the access or development.

Community consultation was undertaken in the form of a consultation website and a meeting was held with Bratton Clovelly Parish Council in July last year.

The application would meet the identified local need, said the agents.
