Stoke Climsland Amateur Theatrical Society is this week set to present 'The Roses of Eyam' by Don Taylor.
The play tells the remarkable and true story of the Derbyshire village stricken with plague in 1665 through the arrival of a box of clothing from London.
The story unfolds with clergymen persuading residents to remain in the village and contain the disease within its bounds at the certain risk of their lives.
The production portrays human tragedies, courage, and occasional comedies and is 'the most ambitious production that SCATS has ever undertaken.'
With the huge interest that has been shown for this performance, an extra showing has been added on the Saturday afternoon.
The play will be staged in Stoke Climsand Parish Hall today (Thursday) and Friday, October 29 and 30, curtain up at 7.30pm, and at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday, October 31. Tickets are £5 a head and go on sale at Stoke Climsland Post Office on Monday, October 5.
