A COUPLE from Chagford were among a team of supporters for the charity Starlight to run the Bupa Great South Run.
Alison and Alan Deacon and their daughter Jess ran the Bupa Great South Run for Starlight Children's Foundation — a national charity that grants once-in-a-lifetime wishes for seriously and terminally ill children and provides entertainment in hospitals and hospices across the UK.
Known as the world's leading ten mile running event, the race is a flat and fast route taking in the historic Portsmouth Dockyard.
The Starlight Pirates comprised of the Deacon family, Jo Castleton Brown, and Sara and Chris Richardson.
While Sara, Chris and Jo had all run the race several times before, it was the first time that the Deacon family had competed in the run.
With 93p of every pound raised going directly to the cause, the money that the Starlight Pirates has raised so far, nearly £1,000, will make a difference to poorly children across the UK.
