Okehampton Argyle 3

Pinhoe 6

OKEHAMPTON went ahead in the fourth minute when Ian Gill met a Neil Agnew corner at the near post.

Argyle continued to press and were the livelier of the two sides but midway through the half they allowed Pinhoe to get into the match.

After half an hour they equalised through a dubious penalty after a foul right on the edge of the area.

Steve Pengelly saved the initial penalty but Paul Tricker made the rebound count.

This kick-started Argyle back into action and they restored their lead a minute before the break, again from an Agnew corner. The in-swinger cleared everyone in the middle and Mortimer was able to head home unopposed at the far post.

Within a minute of the restart Argyle had the perfect chance to extend their lead but Burdus headed over when it was probably easier to score.

Argyle were to rue this missed opportunity as they entered a disastrous period. Some horrendous defensive errors led to the Pins scoring four goals between the 50th and 60th minute. Reddington and Pollard then replaced Burdus and Margie and this seemed to help stabilise the situation.

Argyle conceded a sixth goal a quarter of an hour from the end following a speculative cross which Pengelly tipped on to the bar only for a forward following up to score.

Okehampton completed the scoring late on after good work from Pollard down the left, leaving Gill a simple tap-in.

This week sees Okehampton travel to the seaside as they take on Exmouth Amateurs. Kick-off 2.30 pm.
