A FIVE-mile walk along lesser known roads and quiet lanes of the wider parish of Calstock can be enjoyed this month.

Organised by Calstock Footpath Society, the route is rich in local history, including an iron age fortification. Walk leader Jean Miller has a wealth of knowledge of the parish's past.

The walk, entitled 'Landscapes of Calstock Parish', includes two ascents on rough tracks and seven stiles. Strong walking shoes or boots are recommended.

Allow three hours and bring a packed lunch. Binoculars are suggested and the range of views provide photo opportunities. The walk is unsuitable for dogs. A donation of £2 is requested from non-members of the society.

Meet at Harrowbarrow and Metherell Village Hall car park at 11am on Sunday, March 24. For further information telephone 01579 351081.
