THE new series of Wednesday evening concerts for Kelly College Concert Society begins on September 27, with a recital by the Dussek Piano Trio. This will include piano trios by Beethoven and Schubert.

The pianist, Michael Dussek, is well known to many, having played at previous Kelly concerts to great acclaim.

On October 18 the Borromini Ensemble will play music from the Baroque period to mark the 250th anniversary of Bach's death.

This will be music by Schumann and Saint-Saens and also by Andrew Wilson, the Director of Music at Kelly College.

On January 17 the outstanding young pianist, Viv McLean, will play Beethoven's 'Waldstein' Sonata and a range of Schubert's most beautiful piano compositions, including all the Impromptus.

Samuel Barber's Sonata will also feature in this impressive concert, which is sponsored by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.

A romantic theme for February 14 will be presented by Alice Neary, cello and Gretel Dowdeswell piano.

Alice won the 1998 Pierre Fournier prize and the programme includes Rachmaninov's Cello Sonata and Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata.

The final concert in the series will be given by the Early Music Duo, Diabolus in Music.

They will pay a variety of early instruments, which should appeal especially to the young people in the audience.

Season tickets for the series can be bought at the first concert for £25 (£20 concessions), a saving of almost half on the individual ticket price of £8 (£6 concessions).

There is free admission for children accompanied by an adult.

All concerts begin at 7.45pm in the Melvin Hall, Kelly College, Tavistock.
