AN EXHIBITION of old and new photographs of Okehampton's two historic churches will run on September 11 and 18, with a photography competition being judged on the first day.

There has been a good response to the Devon Historic Churches Day competition, where prizes will be given to the best three photographs submitted by members of the public.

A plea went out last month for old and new photographs of All Saints Parish Church and St James' Chapel in order to create a pictorial display of the buildings' histories.

The competition will be judged in St James' Chapel on September 11 at 10am by well-known photographer Pam Kemp and the exhibition will run on consecutive Saturdays in both churches between 10am and 4pm with refreshments available.

Donations in aid of the Devon Historic Churches Trust would be gratefully received as both churches will directly benefit. Prizes have been donated by Okehampton businesses.
