A PRIZE fund of £900 is hoped to attract many amateur photographers to submit their images of Dartmoor as entries in a new competition launched this Easter.
The competition has three categories for entries: Dartmoor Heritage — archaeology, industrial and agricultural; Dartmoor Life – wildlife, farming, animals and people; and Dartmoor Landscape – views and panoramas that capture the moods and character of the area.
Prize vouchers will be awarded in each category. The winner will receive £200 and the runner-up will receive £75. There will be a special prize voucher of £75 to the best entry overall submitted by anyone aged under 16.
James Paxman, from the Dartmoor Preservation Association, organisers of the competition, said: 'We're looking for images that really capture the essence of Dartmoor. Not only the classic landscape views, but also the richness of the industrial and cultural heritage. And let's not forget about the people, wildlife and animals that inhabit and enjoy this wonderful landscape.'
The competition is sponsored by the Exeter branch of the London Camera Exchange.
