IN the Okehampton Netball League division one Phoenix had a fantastic win over Hatherleigh. Phoenix, who were unlucky to have only five players for three quarters of the game, with a sixth player joining them for the last 15 minutes. Phoenix had their minds set on playing well with the minimum amount of players and their persistence, accurate shooting and good defending paid off with them winning 24-21. Players of the match were Lorraine Moore for Hatherleigh and Jessica Day and Scarlet Gearing for Phoenix. The other division one match was between the current league champions, the Falcons, and the Magpies. Magpies had a good start to the match, but as ever the Falcons? attack were just too strong and they ended up winning 50 ? 27. Magpies were happier with this week?s performance and hope they can improve for next week?s game. Player of the match were Roz Bragg for Falcons and Carolyn Drake for Magpies. In division two it was a close game between Ladybirds and Jesters with Jesters having the last laugh to win 26 ? 22. Players of the match were Hannah Whitely for Ladybirds and Lyn Taylor for Jesters. The close matches continued with Maltesers stealing a win from Falcon Juniors 30- 22. Players of the match were Jemma Anstey for Maltesers and Hayley Curtis for Falcon Juniors. Lifton Ladies had a convincing win with a final score of 25 ?4. Players of the match were Kirsty Pearce for Lifton Ladies and Tracey March and Charlotte Fewings for Starlets.
